Hawk boxes

From: Boots Tex and Lone Star Quilter (janet@redbarnretreat.com) | Date: 2008-01-14 02:01:39 UTC
Does anyone know the status of Hawk's letterboxes generally from the
Heights north to Beltway 8? We thought we might try to find some of
them, but they haven't been found in a very long time, so don't know
if they are worth the search. Some of the boxes: Shell Game,
Kokopelli, Batter Up!, Crook and Fleece, Hooked on Letterboxing, and
The Heights of Quaint.

Thanks,
Boots Tex and Lone Star Quilter

I think the best route to go is to assume they are gone.  Although there were hints she might be returning earlier this year, it had been a couple of years since she participated and when she left, she left a lot of litterboxes in her wake.  That fact just doesn't evoke warm fuzzies in me that she might clean up what she left behind before she continues forward...

But call me a cynic.

Hooked on Letterboxing was there last time I looked, and that's one I
think may be there and a nice enough park. You don't mention it, but
I think The Fool is probably there.

I THINK The Heights of Quaint is gone. My child takes art very near
there and I was walking around the park trying to remember exactly the
ending location.

She sporadically and occasionally is now responding to email on AQ,
but she has shown no real signs of doing maintenance on her boxes.

We found Batter Up!, but the rest of them we never did look for.

Thanks dewberry and Barefoot Lucy(nical),

I hope The Fool is there, I wouldn't want to be the only one. Just
kidding. We wanted to go to 11th St. Park to get the Box of the
Month and were just looking for other boxes along the way, and Hawk
seems to have a lot still listed, although they appear to be kind of
strung out in various neighborhood parks that we are not familiar
with. We've pretty much got all the boxes in Memorial Park and
Mercer Arboretum and don't know of any other concentration of
boxes. We probably won't have a whole lot of time. By the way,
Lucy, thanks for the "dog" comments on the Texas board. There are
some possible "dog" letterboxes there that might fit the theme of
our "Dog Days at Double Lake" minigathering.

I've had two very nice dogs arrive in the mail this week for Dog Days, one from Fungus Woman & one from JACKS.  And I haven't started to carve.

See if you can solve Calculator Games and Follow the Reader...someone gave a big hint to Follow the Reader in the comments section of my blog, so that should be easy.

Great! I've carved one and we have some other ideas. I'll probably
carve a few this week. We figured out Calculator Games a long time
ago, but before we could find it, it was retired. I have CG2 on my
list. We found Follow the Reader back in November, with a little
help from the blog. Thanks for the tips.
